PREVIEW

The BV8042 power management integrated circuit (PMIC) is a highly integrated and efficient integrated circuit.
It powers a wide range of processors including solid-sate drive (SSD) applications, video processors, field programmable gate array (FPGAs), peripherals, and microcontrollers. The PMIC is highly flexible and can be reconfigured via I2C for multiple applications without the need for PCB changes.

The core of the BV8042 PMIC includes four buck regulators, and two low dropout regulators (LDO). The PMIC integrates power MOSFETs, significantly reducing external component requirements and improving reliability. The bucks use an adaptive constant on-time (ACOT) control architecture to optimize the load transient response with 0.47µH inductor and smaller output capacitors.

The power rail Buck1, LDO1, and LDO2 can be configured as a load switch, and the power rail Buck4 can be configured as LDO. Buck1 is optimized for output voltage close to the input voltage, and Buck3 is optimized for low voltage output. All outputs are highly configurable via the I2C interface.

The BV8042 serial has 8 configurable GPIOs. These GPIOs can be configured for multiple purposes like enable signal for external regulator (EXT_EN and EXT_PG), interrupt (nIRQ), power enable (PWREN), dynamic voltage scaling (DVS) control, etc.
